The 1728 French infantry musket was the second standardized musket adopted by the French army. It featured a 69 caliber barrel, three barrel bands, and round sling swivels. Later versions of the musket incorporated a metal ramrod and one of several external bridle configurations.
Over 350,000 of these muskets were produced and large numbers were send to North America during the French & Indian War where they saw extensive use. During the American Revolution, these muskets again saw action in the hands of American Patriots as well as the Loyal Canadian militias.
Our reproduction 1728/46 French musket incorporates later design developments including the metal ramrod and bridled pan. It is one of our longest muskets with an overall length of over 62 inches. The slim lines, bright hardware, and swooping stock configuration make it one of the most attractive weapons of this period.
As with all our muskets, our 1728/46 French musket comes with a limited warranty. The musketís hammer (frizzen) has been adequately hardened and comes with a lifetime re-hardening guarantee. Bayonets are available.
