History:

Originally designated the Land Service Musquet of the Kingís Pattern this weapon, which began production in 1730, is today referred to as the Long Land or 1st Model Brown Bess. It was the standard arm of the British forces fighting in the Americas during the French & Indian War. In the American Revolution, 1st Models saw widespread use with British Regulars, Loyalists, and Patriot troops particularly in the conflictís early years. In addition to the wooden rammer and brass hardware typical of the Long Lands, the musket incorporates the 1730/40 Pattern double bridle lock.

Our reproduction 1730/40 Long Land Pattern (1st Model) Brown Bess is faithful to the original in design and functionality. It features a .75 caliber barrel, hardwood stock, and bright finish. The brass hardware and double bridle lock distinguishes the musket as a later variation of the long lived Long Land muskets. The weapon requires no defarbing, has proper lock markings, aprons, and brass furniture. Like all of our muskets, it comes with a limited warranty and a lifetime re-hardening guarantee.
